Companies usually recruit people who are a cultural and a professional fit for them. But what some of them miss is the candidate’s experience throughout the process.

You’ll maybe wonder why this is important when the candidate really wants to get the job. Well, it’s not just important – it’s crucial.

The interview and recruitment process reflect a company’s culture. If the candidate enjoys the interview and the communication, that will be their perception of everyday life if they join. Imagine what they will think if they are offered a job in a company that takes 40 days to respond to their application or to provide answers to any queries.

The candidate’s experience at Drum Horse

We strive to offer a great candidate experience from the first call to the last email.

We appreciate the time and the energy each candidate puts into the conversations and the tasks during the process. We dedicate time and attention to each application, to each candidate, and to each individual process.

The recruitment process

We start with a phone call for the initial interview which is all about getting to know each other. We want to learn more about the candidate than simply the words on their CV; the candidate learns more about the company –  who we are, how we do things, and the perks we offer (because we do have some cool ones).

If all goes well, and we like each other, the next step is an interview with the manager of the department. Sometimes, if the position requires it, we also set a task to be completed and presented so that we can go through it together.

And here we come to the final step. We consider, discuss as a team and pick the best candidate for this role  and then the offer is sent.

What about those candidates that are not picked?

We don’t find it easy letting a candidate know that they won’t receive an offer, however it is important to us to always do so.

Why is it important?  We really appreciate everyone’s interest in joining us and know how much time they have spent applying.  We are always honest and, whilst we believe this role may not be right for them, the next one may be.

Feedback from candidates who weren’t offered a job confirms that they appreciate this final step even if they weren’t successful.

“It was great meeting you all. I have heard such a lovely words for your company, but when I briefly meet you all I can say great stuff about you as well. Your professionalism is much appreciated”.

“Thanks for the opportunity to be interviewed, and chance to meet you and Marija it was my pleasure…you let me see that Drum Horse is company with strong vision for future and great place to work and grow.”

“I appreciate the honesty, it was nice having the opportunity for an interview, I really enjoyed it as well”.
